The Council Has Spoken!

First off...  any spambots reading this should immediately go here, here, here,  and here.  Die spambots, die!  And now...  the winning entries in the Watcher's Council vote for this week are Why Jews Are Right To Suspect Obama's Advisers by Bookworm Room, and Deep Thoughts with Biggie Smalls by Kaboom: A Soldier's War Journal.  All members, please be sure to link to both winning entries (and to the full results of the vote) in a post.  There was actually a tie in the council category this week...  I enjoyed both posts, but Bookworm's critique of Obamaite foreign policy ultimately won me over. Two members were unable to vote this week, but neither was affected by the 2/3 vote penalty.  Thanks to everyone for all the great entries this week...  I'm eager to see next week's entries!  Here are the full tallies of all votes cast:

I thought it would be best to leave out the entries that didn't receive any votes at all.  The fractions come from the splitting of the votes...  primary choices counted as 2/3 of a vote and secondary choices counted as 1/3.  Both counts for primary and secondary choices were then added all together.  I could have avoided using fractions, but it would have put the results on a completely different scale...  I'd rather that the total reflect how many people actually voted.  Please send any questions, comments, complaints, criticisms, crude insults, or thinly-veiled threats to this address.

Only one blogger took me up on my most recent offer of link whorage...  so there won't be any spillover into honorable mentions this week.

The Old Switcheroo

Many thanks to The Colossus of Rhodey, The Glittering Eye, Dean's World, and Outside the Beltway for helping to spread the word about the open seat on the Watcher's Council.

After careful consideration of all the applications I've received, I finally managed to reach a decision on the replacement...  The Razor will be filling the vacancy left by Right Wing Nut House.  Welcome aboard, Scott!  All members, please be sure to update your link lists.  Thanks very much to everyone else who expressed an interest in joining...  I will keep you all in mind should any more spots open up.

The Coalition of the Willing

As you may or may not already be aware, members of the Watcher's Council hold a vote every week on what we consider to be the most link-worthy pieces of writing around...  though I don't actually vote unless there happens to be a tie, I do get to choose two of the non-council nominations for each vote held.  When I choose two blogs to nominate for next week's vote, I will limit myself to considering those who do the following:

  1. You must make a post containing 4 required links -- your qualification post must link to the most recent winning council post, the most recent winning non-council post, the results of the latest vote, and that vote's posting of the nominees.

  2. Then send me an email with "LINK WHORAGE" as the subject and include a link to the post you want me to consider nominating...  also, please include a link to your post required by the previous step.

  3. Please follow the previous two steps before Tuesday's nomination deadline of 8 PM, Eastern Standard Time.

I will look at all the submissions and then nominate the two posts that I like the most.  When I post the full list of nominations, I'll also list below them up to ten more submitted posts that I feel are the most deserving of an honorable mention...  this list of ten extra posts can't be voted on by council members, but it should help you to garner some attention.

I made the same offer last week, but not many bloggers took me up on it.  Keep in mind...  if you are only one of a dozen (or fewer) people who follow the instructions above, then you are pretty much guaranteed an honorable mention at the very least.  As usual, I will be reposting this announcement on a weekly basis.

Update: To make things easier on yourself, just go ahead and copy the HTML code from this box when making your qualification post.

Up for Grabs

Due to being stretched a bit too thin by his other obligations at American Thinker and Pajamas Media, Rick Moran of Right Wing Nut House has chosen to vacate his seat on the Watcher's Council...  It's been great having Rick on board for so long, but all good things must come to an end.  Now that he has decided to step down, there is one open seat and I need to find a blog worthy enough to fill it.  Anyone that has a blog, please read the up-to-date version of the rules here and contact me if you are interested in applying for membership.  I plan on choosing a replacement in time for that person to participate in the May 27th nominations process and that week's vote.  (Christopher Lee's 86th birthday...  w00t!)

1/3Obama's Eagleton Affair
The American Spectator

I thought it would be best to leave out the entries that didn't receive any votes at all.  The fractions come from the splitting of the votes...  primary choices counted as 2/3 of a vote and secondary choices counted as 1/3.  Both counts for primary and secondary choices were then added all together.  I could have avoided using fractions, but it would have put the results on a completely different scale...  I'd rather that the total reflect how many people actually voted.  Please send any questions, comments, complaints, criticisms, crude insults, or thinly-veiled threats to this address.
